Investment Proposition On Skilling Youth For Early Childhood Development

Goldstone Consulting partnered with UNICEF to develop innovative finance solutions for early childhood development, particularly focusing on skilling youth and funding them to establish Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers. This initiative aimed to address the challenge of low access to ECD services and youth unemployment in Uganda. Goldstone Consulting also assisted in the development of an investment policy and project implementation plan, including a monitoring and evaluation.

Challenges

Quantitative Achievements

Increased access to early childhood development services by 30%: Prior to the implementation of the project, only 40% of children in targeted areas had access to early childhood development services. By the end of the project period, this figure had risen to 70%, representing a 30% increase in access.
Reduction in youth unemployment rates by 15%: Youth unemployment rates in the project areas stood at 25% before the initiative commenced. Through the skilling and employment opportunities provided by establishing Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers, the unemployment rate among youth decreased to 10% by the end of the project, marking a significant 15% reduction.
